Wyoming-based Cowboy Clean Fuels has sold its first durable carbon removal credits through Milkywire in a purchase backed by Salesforce. The company injects agricultural processing residues into depleted coalbed methane reservoirs in the Powder River Basin, where microbes produce renewable natural gas and CO2 is stored on coal surfaces. Delivery is expected in 2026, and the sale counts toward Salesforce's goal to contract $100 million of durable carbon removal by 2030. Cowboy Clean Fuels uses a patented BiCRS+RNG methodology developed to ISO 14064-2:2019, with permanence claimed at over 100 years. Projects are certified under the Absolute Carbon Standard and credits are issued through the C-Capsule registry run by Evident, part of Xpansiv. The company is developing additional projects in the Powder River Basin and is marketing both CDR credits and carbon-neutral RNG.
