Cowboy Clean Fuels Sells First Durable Carbon Removal Credits via Milkywire, with Salesforce Backing
streetinsider.comCowboy Clean Fuels, a Wyoming-based climate-tech company, has completed its first sale of durable carbon removal credits through Milkywire, with support from Salesforce's commitment to purchase $100 million in durable carbon removal by 2030. The credits come from the company's biomass carbon removal and storage (BiCRS) pathway in the Powder River Basin, where agricultural residues are injected into depleted coalbed methane reservoirs, generating renewable natural gas and permanently storing CO2 on coal surfaces. The project is certified under the Absolute Carbon Standard and listed on the C-Capsule registry, with independent assessment by Climate Vault Solutions. The sale marks Cowboy Clean Fuels' entry into the CDR market, alongside its existing RNG business. The company says the pathway offers durable geologic storage, renewable gas production, and a large resource base. Buyers can purchase verified credits on-registry, and the company is developing additional projects in the region. This deal highlights the growing demand for durable carbon removal from corporate buyers and the role of legacy energy infrastructure in enabling low-carbon solutions.
