Covestro is implementing a large scale energy efficiency project to capture and reuse waste heat from its toluene diisocyanate (TDI) production process. By reintegrating low temperature energy and steam back into the system, the company expects to cut annual carbon dioxide emissions by over 40,000 tons. This investment represents one of the largest efficiency upgrades in the company's history, aiming to reduce energy consumption per unit of product by 20 percent by 2030. The project demonstrates how recycling industrial heat can lower operational costs while meeting climate neutrality goals.
