Coventry College and Sidney Stringer Academy now host 1,643 solar panels across four buildings, funded by a £700,000 Mayoral Renewables Fund grant and £125,000 in match funding. The installation has already saved more than £95,000 in electricity costs in six months, freeing up money for teaching and student support. The project also supports local skills development, including an industry masterclass for electrical students and solar photovoltaic bootcamps for residents and businesses. Local suppliers and Coventry based workers were involved in the delivery. The Mayor's office says the programme will expand to more public buildings across the West Midlands.
