Nonprofit Cool Effect has added rice methane reduction projects from Mitti Labs to its carbon credit portfolio. The initiative uses Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) irrigation to cut methane emissions by up to 50% and reduce water use by 40% in Indian rice farming. Mitti Labs utilizes a digital measurement, reporting, and verification (dMRV) system involving NASA-supported remote sensing and ground-level data. This approach aims to provide scalable, high-integrity credits while improving incomes for smallholder farmers.
