Continuum Ag and Aztalan Bio help farmers prepare for 45Z clean fuel tax credit with carbon intensity scoring
energy.agwired.comContinuum Ag and Wisconsin ethanol producer Aztalan Bio have partnered to help farmers get ready for the 45Z Clean Fuel Production Credit. The collaboration focuses on using Continuum Ag's TopSoil platform to calculate farm-level carbon intensity scores, organize records, and package verified CI data that ethanol producers can use to monetize the tax credit. Aztalan Bio already successfully claimed the 45Z credit for fuel produced in 2025. The company sees value in working directly with farmers who have verified CI data, especially as additional guidance on feedstock CI is expected. Farmers can calculate their CI Score for free through TopSoil.ag and pursue CI Certification to access emerging low-carbon grain opportunities. This partnership shows how the 45Z credit is creating a direct financial link between on-farm practices and ethanol plant decarbonization. For farmers, having verified CI data could mean premium grain markets. For ethanol producers, it means a smoother path to claiming the credit and lowering their fuel's carbon intensity.
