Constellation and Amazon have signed a 20-year power purchase agreement covering 690 megawatts from the Calvert Cliffs Clean Energy Center in Lusby, Maryland. The deal backs more than $3 billion in infrastructure investment, including a 190 megawatt uprate expected online between 2030 and 2032. Calvert Cliffs currently generates about 80% of Maryland's clean energy and sends power into the wider PJM grid. Amazon will buy power through a related retail supply agreement across the 13-state PJM market. Constellation says the long-term revenue certainty supports its push to relicense the plant for another 20 years and explore advanced nuclear options at the site. For anyone tracking grid decarbonization, this is a major corporate commitment to existing nuclear capacity rather than only new renewables.
