The pledges were announced during a high-level donor roundtable in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, alongside the African Development Bank Group's Annual Meetings. The funds will back 63 low-carbon projects under the Congo Basin Blue Fund, focusing on climate resilience, biodiversity protection, and sustainable economic growth. Major pledges include $1 billion from the World Bank Group, $600 million from the Development Bank of Central African States, $600 million in grant funding from the African Chamber of Commerce in Scandinavia, $320 million from the Green Climate Fund, and $250 million from the African Development Bank. The projects span ecosystem restoration, climate-resilient infrastructure, sustainable fisheries, water management, and eco-tourism. The Congo Basin absorbs billions of tons of carbon and sustains millions of livelihoods, making these investments critical for global climate goals and regional development.
