CNOOC doesn't break out methane data per field in their sustainability reports. They report group level emissions only. So we are stuck with industry averages, which vary a lot. For deepwater, flaring is usually lower than onshore, but leaks can still happen.

Right. The article also says gas improves air quality, which is true for particulates, but CO2 reduction depends on how much coal it actually displaces. If gas just adds to total energy demand, the climate benefit shrinks.
