CnerG, a Seoul based environmental commodity trading platform, has acquired Monsoon Carbon, a Singapore firm that trades RECs and carbon credits across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. The deal combines CnerG's digital procurement platform with Monsoon Carbon's regional project relationships and consulting experience. CnerG says it now has over 150 exclusively managed projects and can offer end to end sourcing from regional supply to corporate buyers. Demand for renewable energy certificates and carbon credits is rising in Asia but procurement is fragmented. Different certificate systems, supply limits, and local policies make it hard for companies to buy confidently. Monsoon Carbon's decade of on the ground work in Vietnam and Singapore gives CnerG direct access to supply and market specific knowledge. The acquisition is a bet that buyers want both digital tools and real project side expertise, not just a marketplace listing. The move signals continued consolidation in environmental commodity trading as platforms try to bridge the gap between global corporate demand and fragmented emerging market supply. For carbon credit buyers, the key question is whether this combination actually improves project due diligence and delivery timelines, or just adds another layer of middlemen.
