CMA CGM's PANTHEON, a 24,212 TEU LNG-powered containership, has arrived at the Port of Southampton on its maiden Asia-Europe voyage. It is the second of ten French-flagged 24,000 TEU vessels in the series and the largest LNG ship to call in the UK. The vessel runs on LNG and is designed to burn bio-LNG and synthetic e-methane as those fuels become available. CMA CGM says the ship is part of its push to reach net zero by 2050 and expects to operate about 200 container ships capable of using low-carbon fuels by 2031. The company has five UK offices and 17 direct weekly services across 11 ports, with Southampton as a central hub. For logistics and shipping watchers, the PANTHEON is a concrete example of how carriers are preparing for stricter emissions rules and future fuel supply.
