CMA CGM and DSV expand low-carbon shipping deal to cut 12,000 tonnes of CO2 with UCOME biofuel
freightweek.orgCMA CGM and DSV signed an agreement for DSV to use CMA CGM's ACT+ low-carbon shipping service. The goal is to cut 12,000 tonnes of CO2 over two years using second-generation UCOME-based biofuels, which CMA CGM says can reduce emissions by 83% compared to conventional shipping fuel. The deal extends a long-standing partnership and gives DSV another way to offer lower-carbon ocean freight to its customers. The announcement also highlights CMA CGM's broader decarbonization push. The carrier has ordered a series of LNG-powered vessels, with around 200 dual-fuel LNG and methanol ships expected by 2031. LNG is a step forward but not the final answer; the 2050 net zero target will depend on scaling fuels like green methanol and ammonia. For now, the 12,000 tonne figure is modest relative to total shipping emissions, but it shows how large logistics firms are starting to pay for verified emissions reductions.
