CMA CGM and DSV have signed a shipping agreement targeting 12,000 tonnes of CO2 reductions over two years. DSV will use CMA CGM's ACT+ low-carbon service, which relies on second-generation UCOME-based biofuels. CMA CGM says the fuels cut CO2 emissions by around 83% compared with conventional shipping fuel. The deal supports DSV's goal of reaching net zero across its own operations and value chain by 2050. Biofuel volumes remain a small slice of total bunker demand, so the headline number matters less than whether supply can scale. CMA CGM is also expanding its dual-fuel fleet, with about 200 LNG and methanol-capable vessels expected by 2031. The company already operates LNG-powered containerships, including the CMA CGM NOTRE DAME delivered in 2026. For shipping buyers, this type of agreement offers a way to cut emissions now without waiting for new vessel deliveries.
