CLP Power Sales Rise 2.5% as Hong Kong Utility Pushes Grid Upgrades, Hydrogen Pilot, and EV Charging
tipranks.comCLP Holdings reported a 2.5% year-on-year increase in electricity sales to 28,131 GWh for the first nine months of 2026, driven by data centre demand and EV charging. The utility is backing Hong Kong's Northern Metropolis development with grid infrastructure work at Hung Shui Kiu, Sandy Ridge, and San Tin Technopole, with Sandy Ridge targeted for phased operations from mid-2027. It is also running a hydrogen-natural gas blending pilot at Black Point Power Station as part of a government-recognized trial. Beyond grid work, CLP is expanding EV charging through its CLPe network to more than 340 bays, exploring residual energy recovery from retired EV batteries, and installing solar panels across 13 Vocational Training Council campuses. Those solar projects are expected to generate about 1.3 GWh per year. The stock is up 14.49% year to date, with a market cap of HK$194.5B.
