An Australian advertising watchdog has ruled against the Climate Study Group for a fifth time, finding its latest ad misleading. The ad claimed current CO2 levels are near plant starvation levels and that burning fossil fuels benefits the environment. Ad Standards rejected the group's use of a non-peer-reviewed opinion piece as evidence and noted fossil fuel emissions produce harmful pollutants beyond CO2. The group, which has run ads in News Corp papers since 2015, argued that reducing CO2 would harm plant nutrition. The panel found this conflicted with scientific consensus. The ruling reinforces that climate denial advertising faces increasing scrutiny under Australia's environmental advertising code.
