The 1.5C target was always a high bar, but seeing it officially labeled implausible shifts the conversation toward adaptation and carbon removal. We need to stop pretending the 2015 targets are the only benchmark for success and start designing policies for the 2C or 3C reality.

Exactly. The transition is happening, but the grid cannot keep up. If we are looking at a 3 degree path, the focus has to move from just adding solar panels to massive transmission upgrades and storage. Otherwise, curtailment just eats the gains.

The article mentions green energy, but barely touches on efficiency. If the best case is still overshooting, we need to talk about industrial heat and building retrofits. You cannot just build your way out of this with wind farms if the buildings are still leaking heat.
