Clean Energy starts large-scale dairy RNG facility in Idaho with negative carbon intensity gas

Clean Energy Fuels has begun production at a renewable natural gas facility at East Valley Cattle in Jerome, Idaho. The site uses six anaerobic digesters to process manure from over 35,000 cows, converting it into pipeline-quality RNG for transportation fleets. The project claims negative carbon intensity because capturing methane avoids emissions that would otherwise escape into the atmosphere. The facility is a joint venture with bp and has approval under the U.S. Renewable Fuel Standard and California Air Resources Board, allowing it to generate environmental credits. Clean Energy says the RNG replaces fossil natural gas and offers a lower lifecycle emissions alternative to diesel for heavy-duty trucks.
