Clade Engineering Cuts Waste and Carbon Through Smarter Sourcing and Heat Pump Design
procurementmag.comUK manufacturer Clade Engineering Systems published its 2025 sustainability report, detailing how material efficiency and supplier choices are reducing waste across its supply chain. The company redesigned pack frames and cabinetry to use less metal, fewer tools, and less labor per unit. It is also moving toward zero-carbon steel, aluminum, and advanced ceramics for corrosive environments. On the operational side, Clade cut total emissions from 599 to 575 tonnes CO2e year over year. Its 137kWp solar array at the Leeds Technology Centre has saved over 86,000 kg of CO2 since 2021. The company now runs 58% of its fleet on electric vehicles and aims for net zero on Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2050. Clade also launched the Birch ULN ultra-low noise heat pump and the Rowan 2 high-efficiency cooling heat pump, both designed to remove barriers to building decarbonization. The report underscores that supplier sustainability performance is becoming a core factor alongside product quality and resilience.
