The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) is funding three employer-led training programmes through its Industry Impact Fund to help the construction sector develop skills for the UK's net-zero transition. The projects target low-carbon construction, sustainable building methods, and workforce development, with the built environment accounting for roughly 40% of UK carbon emissions. Balfour Beatty's Low Carbon Passport Programme offers a free accredited qualification for new entrants and existing professionals, running until November 2026. Berkeley Group's Future Workforce Programme, in partnership with the Supply Chain Sustainability School, is creating free learning resources for further education colleges and SMEs. Donaldson Timber Systems' Timber in Construction 101 provides over 15 fully funded training modules on timber construction. All three projects are funded through CITB's Industry Impact Fund, which prioritizes net zero as one of six key funding areas.
