Cielo Waste Solutions is developing Project Nahoonai in British Columbia, a commercial-scale facility that converts forestry residues into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). By integrating carbon capture and storage (CCS), the project aims to produce carbon-negative fuel that generates high-value credits under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations and BC's Low Carbon Fuel Standard. Developed in partnership with the Lheidli T'enneh First Nation, the project focuses on transforming waste woody materials into low-carbon energy. This approach leverages biogenic carbon capture to improve project economics and support the global aviation industry's transition to net-zero emissions.
