Scientists at the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute have developed a method to transform carbon dioxide and water into hydrocarbons suitable for aviation fuel. The research, published in ACS Catalysis, focuses on overcoming technical barriers to create a liquid fuel from atmospheric pollutants. This process aims to create a circular carbon economy by recycling CO2 emissions into usable energy. If scaled successfully from the lab to industrial application, the technology could reduce the aviation sector's reliance on traditional fossil fuels and lower overall carbon emissions.
