Chinese energy engineers detail carbon storage, PV desertification, and offshore wind work at Beijing green transition conference
chinadaily.com.cnChinese energy engineers used a State Council Information Office conference in Beijing to lay out progress on carbon capture, desert solar, offshore wind, and coal mining technology. CNPC Jilin Oilfield says it has stored 4.3 million tons of CO2 in oilfields since 2008. China Huadian is scaling a PV and desertification project with more than 1.47 million drought-tolerant plants across 1,200 hectares, with plans to cover 4,000 hectares and cut CO2 emissions by 4.34 million tons a year. The conference also covered State Grid's live-line maintenance robots, Huaneng's deep sea offshore wind turbine work, and CHN Energy's first unmanned thin coal seam mine. Together the announcements show China is treating the green transition as a mix of grid, industrial, and fossil fuel efficiency work, not just new solar and wind capacity.
