China's Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang announced that the country will accelerate its green transformation during the 2026-2030 period, as part of the 15th Five-Year Plan. Speaking at the 2026 annual general meeting of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), Ding said China will set bolder green and low-carbon development goals, adopt more robust measures, and establish a more rigorous institutional system. Ding also stressed the role of scientific and technological innovation in fostering green productivity and called for international cooperation in global climate governance and biodiversity conservation. The CCICED, a high-level policy advisory body founded in 1992, brings together over 400 members and experts to advise on environment and development policy. China has approved the establishment of the CCICED's Phase VIII, signaling continued support for the council's work.
