China starts operation of three high-performance carbon fiber production lines to boost low-carbon industry supply chain
english.news.cnChina National Building Material Group (CNBM) has put three world-class carbon fiber production lines into operation at its Lianyungang base in Jiangsu Province. The lines cover general-purpose, high-strength, and high-modulus carbon fiber categories, with capacities of 5,000 tonnes for large-tow, 1,000 tonnes for SYT70 T1100-grade high-strength, and 600 tonnes for high-modulus fiber. These materials are critical for new energy, aerospace, deep-sea, and deep-Earth applications, supporting China's low-carbon industrial transition. The independently developed lines address structural supply gaps for high-end carbon fiber products and aim to enhance supply chain security for strategic materials. CNBM chairman Zhou Yuxian noted the launch enables full-category coverage and helps solve engineering challenges in mass production of advanced materials. This move strengthens China's position in the global low-carbon materials market, with direct implications for renewable energy and lightweight manufacturing sectors.
