The leap from a 41kg sample batch to industrial application is massive. Most of this is basic science. It is a long way from a lab result in orbit to a procurement standard for new energy systems on the ground.
Materials science in space usually finds a way back to terrestrial efficiency. Better alloys and carbon structures mean lighter components and less energy waste in high end manufacturing.
