China Solar PV News: AIKO Salmon Farm, Huaneng 15 GW Base, Carbon Peak Plan Targets 17% Emissions Cut by 2030
taiyangnews.infoChina's solar and renewable energy sector continues to expand with several major announcements. AIKO is investing $275 million in a land-based Atlantic salmon farm that will use its ABC solar modules, energy storage, and an AI energy management platform to cut power costs for aquaculture. China Huaneng has started construction on a massive 15 GW wind-solar-coal-storage base in Inner Mongolia's Kubuqi desert, which will send renewable electricity to Shanghai and is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by about 17 million tons per year. In parallel, PCG Power and partners have set up a 1 billion yuan M&A fund focused on solar, storage, and microgrid projects. China's State Council also released its 2026-2030 Carbon Peak Action Plan, targeting a 17% reduction in carbon intensity from 2025 levels and raising non-fossil energy consumption to 25% by 2030. The plan aims for over 2.8 TW of combined wind and solar capacity, 160 GW of pumped hydro, and 300 GW of new energy storage by 2030, along with 100 national zero-carbon industrial parks.
