Sinopec and other Chinese firms are scaling the mass production of T1000-grade carbon fiber. This high-strength material is critical for reducing weight and increasing durability in aerospace and high-end manufacturing. Beyond aerospace, the industry is expanding large-tow carbon fiber capacity. These materials are essential for the next generation of wind turbine blades and energy storage systems, helping to lower costs and improve efficiency in green energy infrastructure.

The jump to T1000 and T1200 is a big deal for turbine blade length. Lighter blades mean we can capture more wind at lower speeds. I wonder what the actual cost per kg is now compared to the older grades. If it is too expensive, it stays in aerospace and never hits the grid.
It usually comes down to the subsidies. China is aggressive with domestic supply chain mandates. If they mandate these materials for new wind projects, the cost curve will drop regardless of the initial market price.
Carbon fiber is great for strength but a nightmare for recycling. We are scaling production for the build phase, but nobody is talking about how to handle these blades once they hit their 25 year limit. We are just trading one waste problem for a more durable one.
