Strong materials are great, but I want to see the actual cost per kg compared to T1100. If the price premium is too high, it stays in aerospace and never hits the wind or grid infrastructure markets.
Agreed. For industrial retrofits or heavy machinery, the material cost is only one part. The labor and specialized bonding required for carbon composites usually kill the payback period anyway.
The real story here is the supply chain shift. Moving from Japanese dominance to Chinese mass production changes the procurement landscape for hydrogen storage and EV chassis globally.
Basically, China is claiming they can mass produce a fibre that is 10x stronger than steel. Good for wind turbines and hydrogen tanks if the scale actually holds up.
