China's first 100 kW wind-solar to hydrogen storage and power system delivered in Shaanxi
news.metal.comShaanxi has achieved a first in China with the delivery of a 100 kW-class integrated system that combines wind and solar power with hydrogen production, solid-state hydrogen storage, and fuel cell power generation. Developed by Xi'an 1908 New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and delivered to XJ Group, the skid-mounted unit is designed to provide green hydrogen power solutions for zero-carbon parks and factories. It claims to enable large-scale hydrogen production, long-duration storage, and continuous controllable hydrogen release. While 100 kW is a modest scale, the integration of multiple steps into a single package is notable. The use of solid-state hydrogen storage could address some of the safety and space issues common with compressed hydrogen. The project fills a gap in China's solid-state hydrogen storage and multi-energy coupling applications. For those tracking green hydrogen deployment, this is a useful proof of concept, though the economics and scalability remain to be demonstrated.
