China's clean technology exports in 2025 avoided 374 million metric tons of carbon dioxide, more than the UK's annual emissions, according to an analysis by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air. The figure covers solar panels, wind turbines, batteries, and electric vehicles shipped abroad, with solar exports to South Asia alone accounting for nearly a third of the avoided emissions. Over their lifetime, these exports are expected to prevent 6,900 MtCO2, up 31% from 2024 and roughly twice India's yearly output. The analysis highlights how China's manufacturing scale has cut costs and accelerated adoption, especially in emerging markets. Exports reached $194 billion last year, with $128 billion shipped in the first half of this year. While these numbers remain small against global emissions of about 39 billion tons, they show clean tech trade's growing role in decarbonization outside China.
