China Researchers Use Wollastonite to Boost Biohydrogen Yield and Capture CO2

By adding wollastonite, a natural silicate mineral, the team stabilized pH levels and shifted microbial activity to favor hydrogen yield over lactate. The system also captures carbon dioxide by precipitating it as calcium carbonate. While higher doses of the mineral improve carbon sequestration, the study found a trade off where too much wollastonite reduces the overall hydrogen output.
