China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) held a meeting with seven major state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to deepen reforms tied to the country's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030). The focus areas include clean energy deployment, energy security, supply chain resilience, and artificial intelligence, all linked to China's double carbon strategy of peaking emissions and achieving carbon neutrality. The NDRC chairman urged SOEs to strengthen green development, support an integrated national market, and reduce logistics costs. Companies like China Coal Technology and Shenhua Coal to Liquid are expected to use cleaner coal and expand resource recycling. Experts say the reform signals that state capital must shift toward strategic and future-oriented industries, including AI and advanced manufacturing, to maintain economic resilience and global competitiveness.
