China proposes green shipping corridors and zero-carbon fuel bunkering at Global Sustainable Transport Forum 2026
chinadaily.com.cnAt the Global Sustainable Transport Forum 2026 in Beijing, China outlined new measures to deepen international cooperation on sustainable transport. Key proposals include establishing a regular multilateral consultation mechanism, launching an international green shipping corridor alliance, and developing a zero-carbon fuel bunkering network. The forum, attended by nearly 800 participants from governments and businesses, emphasized the urgency of building resilient and low-carbon logistics networks amid geopolitical and supply chain pressures. Chinese officials highlighted domestic progress, with over 90% of the population able to reach a high-speed rail station, expressway, or airport within an hour. Meanwhile, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank reported approving over $18 billion for transport projects in the past decade, expected to improve conditions for 418 million people. Speakers from Singapore and Seychelles stressed the need for common standards and commercially viable business models to make lower-carbon aviation and shipping a reality.
