China Proposes 11 New CCER Methodologies for Carbon Credits, Including Battery Storage and Clean Fuels
carbonherald.comChina's Ministry of Ecology and Environment has proposed 11 new methodologies for the China Certified Emission Reduction (CCER) voluntary carbon market. The drafts cover renewable ammonia, biomass fuels, battery storage, pumped-storage hydropower, chemical recycling of plastics, and electric mining vehicles. Public consultation ends October 23, and the methods are not yet approved. If adopted, the methodologies could standardize how projects calculate and verify emissions reductions, opening new credit pathways beyond the current program. Final eligibility and verification requirements will determine how many credits actually reach the market. China's national emissions allowance market has already passed 930 million tonnes of cumulative trading, so CCER may play a larger role in compliance going forward.
