China leads low-carbon industrial projects while US pipeline loses momentum: report
thehindubusinessline.comA new report from the Mission Possible Partnership shows China is dominating low-carbon industrial projects, with 13 of 19 projects that reached final investment decision in the last six months located there. The total pipeline of announced projects across sectors like chemicals, aviation, cement, and metals now stands at 969 globally. China accounts for 170 of those, while the US has 72 and has seen its announced project count drop by 20 over the past year. The report highlights that fossil fuel price shocks are driving investment toward green alternatives. However, the US is losing relative momentum despite having a significant pipeline. Only one of the 19 funded projects in the November to April period was in the US. The data suggests China and "sunbelt" countries like India and Brazil are moving faster on industrial decarbonization than the US or Europe.
