A new 107.12MW/428.48MWh behind-the-meter energy storage project is now operational in Sichuan Province, China. This is the first large-scale storage installation specifically for the aluminum industry, aiming to lower power costs and improve grid reliability for energy-intensive production. The project integrates liquid-cooled storage systems and DC-connected technology to combine solar power with energy storage. This setup reduces power losses and is expected to cut carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 52,000 tons per year while reducing production costs by 140 RMB per ton of aluminum.
