China has opened its first zero-carbon sea-river intermodal container route, connecting Jiaxing port in Zhejiang province to the Ningbo-Zhoushan port complex. The service uses the Ningyuan Dianpeng, a 10,000-ton-class pure electric containership with capacity for 742 TEU, powered by 10 containerized battery units totaling about 20,000 kWh. China is now the clear leader in electric ship deployment, especially on rivers, coastal routes, and port-linked corridors.
