China has started operating its first large scale project to supply wind and solar power directly to data centers in Ningxia. The initiative aims to balance the massive electricity demands of AI computing with national decarbonization goals by linking energy production directly to cloud bases. This project is part of the East Data West Computing strategy, shifting energy intensive processing to regions with abundant renewables. By coordinating computing tasks with power availability, the system reduces grid strain and lowers operational carbon emissions.
