China Deploys MUSICO Sensor to Tiangong Space Station for High-Resolution Carbon Monitoring
chinadailyasia.comThe Multi-Spectral Imaging Carbon Observatory (MUSICO), developed by HKUST, has arrived at the Tiangong Space Station. This instrument can detect carbon dioxide and methane concentrations with a 100-meter grid resolution, allowing it to pinpoint emissions from individual power plants and industrial sites. This capability aims to improve the reliability of emissions data for China's 2030 and 2060 climate targets. By providing orbital verification of point-source emissions, the system reduces reliance on ground-level reporting and helps track industrial decarbonization progress.
