China has integrated a new high-resolution detector, developed by Hong Kong scientists, onto the Tiangong Space Station. The device targets point-source emissions, specifically monitoring carbon dioxide from coal-fired power plants and methane leaks from coal mines with a 100-meter spatial resolution. This payload aims to provide precise data for climate policymakers and will share its findings with the United Nations Environment Programme to support global carbon accounting and emissions tracking.
