China National Building Material Group (CNBM) has scaled the production of T1200 carbon fiber, a material with a tensile strength of 8 gigapascals. This industrial-scale capacity allows for the creation of components that are significantly lighter and stronger than structural steel. This advancement targets sectors like aerospace and advanced energy, where reducing weight directly lowers energy consumption and emissions. The T1200 grade offers a 14 percent strength increase over previous generations, potentially reducing overall component weight by 10 percent.
