The 23rd China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning put green industries front and center, with a focus on power, new energy vehicles, and cross-border grid ties. Chinese firms showcased solar, nuclear, hydrogen co-firing, and CCUS tech, while Lao PDR reported 29 active China-Laos power projects totaling 13.9 GW. Cross-border electricity exchange between China and ASEAN has exceeded 75 billion kWh, over 90% from green sources. Beyond trade, the push is toward joint system building, standards alignment, and local supply chains for EVs and charging infrastructure. For ASEAN and RCEP members, the key question is whether these projects deliver reliable power, clean transport, and real technology transfer. The event signals a shift from simple equipment sales to deeper regional integration in low-carbon energy and mobility.
