Chihuahua delivered biological pest control insects to 50 agricultural producers in Camargo, aiming to replace synthetic pesticides with natural predators. The program is run by the state's Ministry of Rural Development and targets reducing chemical use while protecting local ecosystems. Mexico will invest over MX$20 billion (US$1.15 billion) to restore the Atoyac, Tula, and Lerma-Santiago river systems. The initiative includes wastewater treatment, sewer upgrades, industrial discharge control, riverbank restoration, and environmental monitoring. FINSA cut its total greenhouse gas emissions by 17.2% in 2025, as reported in its latest Sustainability Report verified by Valora Consultores. The Mexico Carbon Forum 2026, organized by MEXICO2, will take place September 2-3 in Aguascalientes to advance carbon taxes, markets, and offset projects.

Biological pest control for 50 producers is a start but that is a tiny fraction of Chihuahua agriculture. Would like to see scale and cost comparison vs synthetic pesticides.

Agreed. The river restoration budget is big but I wonder how much goes to actual cleanup vs admin. Atoyac has been polluted for decades.

FINSA cutting 17% is decent but what is the baseline? Need to see if that is absolute or intensity based. GRI and SASB are good but verification matters more.

Carbon Forum in Aguascalientes could be useful if they actually set rules for offsets. Mexico carbon tax is still low so market design will decide if anything moves.

Biological pest control is interesting for ag emissions too. Less synthetic fertilizer and pesticide production means embedded carbon savings. Would like to see data.
