Chester Zoo Decarbonizes Habitat Heating with Mitsubishi Heat Pumps
energydigital.comChester Zoo is replacing fossil fuel heating with Mitsubishi Electric air source heat pumps to maintain climate controlled environments for its animals. The installation includes 80kW of heating capacity for the Heart of Africa habitat and luxury guest lodges. This electrification effort is part of a broader strategy to reach net zero emissions by 2030. The project demonstrates how commercial heat pumps and radiant panels can manage complex thermal requirements in large conservation sites while reducing operational carbon.
