Chemists Develop High-Precision Carbon Nanoscale Cages for Molecular Filtering

By using a temporary linking strategy, the team increased the success rate of assembling these cages from 10% to 68%, allowing for functional groups to be placed precisely inside the structure. These carbon cages act as tiny containers capable of trapping and sorting specific molecules. This breakthrough could lead to the development of highly selective filters for removing harmful substances or the creation of artificial enzyme systems that operate in harsh industrial environments.
