Changwon City ClimateON Campaign at Yongho High School: Student-Led Carbon Neutrality Actions
asiae.co.krChangwon Special City held its ClimateON Campaign at Yongho High School on Environment Day, drawing about 500 students and faculty. The event promoted everyday carbon neutrality actions through a roulette game, digital decluttering (organizing emails and photos), a plogging challenge, and a used battery exchange program. Students brought in old batteries to swap for new ones, learning how small habits can reduce waste and emissions. The school, a UNESCO affiliate, has an agreement with Changwon City to integrate climate education into its curriculum. City officials framed the campaign as a way to turn awareness into daily practice. While the event is small in scale, it shows how local governments can use school partnerships to build climate literacy and resource circulation habits among young people.
