Changeworks pilot aims to help rural Scottish households go solar with group buying and vetted installers
scottishhousingnews.comChangeworks is launching a pilot in the Scottish Highlands to help rural households install solar panels and battery storage. The service, expected to start in 2027, will connect homeowners with pre-vetted installers and use group purchasing to lower costs. It is being developed with Novoville's Shared Works platform and the Highland Energy Community Partnership. The pilot targets a common problem in remote areas: few installers, high travel costs, and uncertainty about who to trust. By aggregating demand in one area, Changeworks hopes to make low-carbon installations more affordable and practical. The project will track household experiences, installer engagement, and financial and carbon savings to see if the model can be scaled elsewhere.
