Cemvita scales renewable fuel platform to 75,000 liters using crude glycerine feedstock

The process uses crude glycerine, a byproduct of biodiesel production, as a feedstock instead of traditional sugar-based inputs. The company says this validates commercial readiness for producing sustainable aviation fuel and other renewable fuels. The demonstration progressed through multiple stages from bench scale to 15,000 liters before reaching the 75,000 liter milestone. Cemvita is now in discussions with partners in Brazil, the EU, and the UK for commercial deployment. The platform is designed as a drop-in feedstock for existing HEFA and co-processing infrastructure, which could lower the barrier to adoption for SAF production. Using a low-value waste stream like crude glycerine to produce renewable fuels addresses both waste management and emissions reduction. The key question is whether the economics hold at full commercial scale and how the cost compares to conventional HEFA feedstocks. If the numbers work, this could open up a new supply chain for SAF that does not compete with food crops.
