Cemex Spain has sold over one million zero waste cement bags in the Balearic Islands since late 2023. The bags dissolve completely during mixing, eliminating packaging waste from construction sites. This reduces landfill burden in fragile island ecosystems and supports circular economy goals. The bags are used only for the Vertua Supremo cement line, which has a carbon footprint at least 55% lower than standard cement. Cemex aims for full carbon neutrality by 2050. The milestone shows how packaging innovation can cut emissions and waste in the building materials sector.
