Celanese has secured a deal with Aisan to supply POM ECO-C, a polyacetal resin made with captured carbon dioxide, for fuel pump modules used by a North American automaker. This is a concrete example of carbon capture and utilization entering the automotive supply chain, turning industrial CO2 emissions into a physical product rather than storing it underground. The plastic replaces conventional fossil-based polyacetal in precision fuel system components. For investors tracking low-carbon materials and CCU scale-up, this shows demand is moving beyond pilot projects into actual production contracts. The key question is how much CO2 is actually embedded per ton of material and whether the economics work without subsidies.
